Opens Today! 2026 Nigeria International Lighting Expo and New Energy & Power Industry Expo Officially Kicks Off
The NNEPIE Chronicle
Lagos, September 16, 2026 — The Nigeria International Lighting Expo 2026 and the Nigeria New Energy and Power Industry Expo 2026 officially opened today (September 16) at the Landmark Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria, and will run until September 18. The expo is now fully open, with a large number of professional visitors and buyers welcomed on site on its first day. This year’s expo debuts with a dual-theme model linking “power & energy + lighting,” bringing together quality exhibitors from 28 countries and regions. During the exhibition period, it is expected to precisely connect with more than 10,000 professional buyers in engineering procurement, project development, channel distribution, and other fields, making it one of West Africa’s largest full-industry-chain exhibition platforms for energy and lighting.

Two Co-Located Expos Address Core Pain Points in West Africa’s Energy and Lighting Sectors
As Africa’s most populous country, with a total population of more than 230 million, Nigeria faces a severe imbalance between electricity supply and demand: the country’s national generation capacity is only about 4.5 GW, while actual demand exceeds 20 GW, leaving a gap of as high as 75%. In some areas, daily power supply averages only 5 to 6 hours. Nigeria currently has the world’s largest electricity access deficit, with more than 86 million people lacking access to electricity. At the same time, Nigeria’s lighting market is experiencing explosive growth—market research institutions estimate that the country’s lighting market will reach US$500 million in 2025 and is expected to exceed US$740 million by 2030.
Against this backdrop, the organizer of this year’s expo, Zhongsheng International, has adopted a two-co-located-expo model to achieve resource interconnection and buyer sharing. Exhibiting companies include many internationally renowned brands, such as DEYE, AKT, LONGI, LESSO, VANGE, Felicity Solar, CTORCH, and ALLTOP. The exhibits cover the entire industry chain, including power equipment, PV energy storage, LED lighting, intelligent control systems, solar streetlights, and off-grid solutions.

Renewable Energy Market Grows Rapidly, with Chinese Enterprises’ Advantages at the Expo Highly Prominent
Nigeria’s renewable energy market is in a period of rapid expansion. The installed capacity of Nigeria’s renewable energy market is projected to grow from 4.51 GW in 2026 to 14.07 GW in 2031, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 25.58%. Nigeria has average annual solar irradiation of 1,700 to 2,200 kWh/m², with developable PV potential exceeding 1,000 GW. The government plans to increase the share of renewable energy to 30% by 2030.
Chinese enterprises occupy a prominent position at this year’s expo. According to statistics, Nigeria’s total imports of lighting products exceed US$200 million, of which products from China account for as much as 60%; in the energy-saving lamp sector, Chinese products account for 80.7%. The technological and cost advantages of Chinese companies in PV modules, energy storage equipment, and LED lighting are highly aligned with Nigeria’s rigid market demand.

Rich Concurrent Events Focus on Cutting-Edge Industry Issues
During the expo, several high-level industry forums and technical seminars will be held. The agenda includes panel discussions on power market reform and renewable energy financing, the Buyer-Seller Matchmaking Forum, and the Women in Energy & Lighting Networking Forum, among other featured events. Participants will engage in in-depth exchanges on the latest trends in the power and energy industry, technological innovation, and sustainable development.
Notably, the previous edition delivered outstanding results. During the previous Nigeria International Lighting Expo, the total value of on-site transactions and intended orders exceeded NGN 600 million. Among them, VellMax signed an intended order worth NGN 100 million with Solar-Sunbest Integrated Services Ltd, and several local Nigerian companies also reached distribution cooperation agreements. This year’s expo is expected to achieve even greater breakthroughs on this basis.
As exhibitors, partners, and industry professionals at this year’s expo work together to promote electricity access for more than 32 million Nigerians, and as the Federal Government of Nigeria continues to roll out policy incentives such as zero tariffs on PV and energy storage equipment, the energy and lighting expo organized by Zhongsheng International is well timed.
The expo is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from September 16 to 18 at the Landmark Centre, 3 & 4 Water Corporation Road, Victoria Island, Lagos. The expo officially opened today, and industry professionals are welcome to visit and exchange ideas.
